About Your Skin

The Largest Organ

So maybe you know this and maybe you don’t. The skin is your largest organ. That’s right, it’s more than just the wrapper around your body.  What you put on your skin actually enters your body. Quick example: the nicotine patch on your skin enters your body so you lose the craving for smoking.

So, what’s with putting crap or other chemicals on your skin. Like it’s just going to wash off?

We’ve been reading about creams that take care of wrinkles. For old guys and gals. Okay. So, maybe they work. But at what cost? The stuff in there is going on and into your skin and that enters your body. We’re not saying it’s like the DDT truck many of us used to follow in the 50s, but our history of trusting magical chemicals has not exactly been smooth sailing.

That’s why we only want your skin to experience healthy plant-based ingredients. Look, we're not promising to get rid of wrinkles. Sorry dude. That train has left the station. But, what we can aim for is to make your skin look better, feel better and maybe even accentuate your rugged healthiness!

And like all high performing organs, we’re trying to keep you and your skin as tuned as possible. We want to hear you at your best.

Skin Migration

Your skin constantly goes through a migration process. The lower layers create new cells and make their way to the upper level surface, shedding the old and dead skin cells. When you were younger this process took about 30 days. But now it’s taking longer (isn’t everything). And it’s not all happening in unison as the skin sheds. The result—dryer, rougher and duller skin.

So that’s why you need to exfoliate your skin and remove the dead skin layer. With a cleansing scrub, or a hearty soap and water wash, not with chemicals. (Read “Wrinkles?” above about chemicals on your skin)

Once you remove those pesky dead skin cells, keep in mind you might also be removing some of the antioxidants and natural vitamins on your skin. That’s why your skin will benefit from a toning spray and serum oil that keeps the natural process alive and rewards rather than punishes your skin.

And, by the way, in case you are wondering what’s with the penguins, we think migrating penguins are far nicer to look at than migrating skin cells.

Have a question about your skin?

Maybe we can answer it, and maybe we can’t. And if we can’t answer it, we’ll try to point you in a direction that could.
